Theatre has always provided scope for being pretty meta, but not quite like this - meet Side by Side Productions, who are set to present their theatre show about a theatre show, (title of show), at Ancoats Hope Mill Theatre this August.

With music and lyrics by Jeff Bowen and book by Hunter Bell, (title of show) follows an all-too-familiar tale of two struggling writers as they navigate the pitfalls of writing a musical under pressure. As the deadline for submissions looms, the pair make a pact to write until the festival’s deadline and submit whatever they’ve written - even if that means that the production is nothing more than a hotpotch of random conversations between themselves and friends.
