Ascendant lo-fi indie hero Soccer Mommy, AKA Sophie Allison, takes to our shores for her first ever full UK tour, in support of her incredible debut studio album, Clean.

Clean is one of the best albums released so far this year, with soaring melodies, morose lyrics and a pop sensibility that betrays its status as Allison’s first body of work. Clean was released on Fat Possum records; also home to Wavves, Fat White Family and Youth Lagoon among others.

The record varies from upbeat 4:4 stomping indie-anthems like “Your Dog,” to the Elvis Depressedly aping “Blossom (Wasting All My Time)” which is surely set to get the crowd in Gorilla swaying arm in arm.

The American singer has plenty of live experience, having toured with genre veterans Slowdive and Mitski. Not only has she performed with some big hitters, she’s played gigs with fellow new-wave acts like Pheobe Bridgers and Frankie Cosmos and is expert at giving her chill, slightly sad performances the air they need to breathe.

Support comes from Brooke Bentham, a UK lo-fi singer very much in the mould of Soccer Mommy and Julien Baker - though Bentham takes influence from stargazing post-rock groups like The War On Drugs. Bentham’s recent Fleetwood Mac cover “The Chain” adds a minute onto the original song length, contemplating every moment and soaking it in melancholy. Her 2017 EPs "The Room Swayed" and "This Rapture" showcased her dexterity with lyrics focusing on early twenties dysphoria and broken down relationships. Our fingers are crossed for a 2018 LP!

The show is set to be a gorgeous showcase of some of the most interesting voices in the indie singer-songwriter scene across America and our side of the pond, and is well worth getting down to see.
