Say hello to SHRINE (AKA, Jack Richards & Ingrid Lisman) - a Manchester-based duo with a breezy, indie-folk sound and an attitude cooler than a cucumber. We've chatted to 1/2 of the band (Jack) to see what all the lovely fuss is about.

Q: What inspired the name - random choice or specific meaning?
A: Me and Ingrid were playing around with a few names but SHRINE just seemed to click. The name has no religious connotations, we just thought it sounded current and positive.
Q: Give us an idea of your influences - top 5 artists?
We’re all influenced by lots of different types of music but Ingrid is a big fan of Fleetwood Mac and Led Zeppelin. I was a huge fan of The Strokes growing up and then got into 80’s bands like The Cure and New Order.
Q: Describe your sound in one sentence. Make it a gd'un!
Our sound is currently going through some changes, but something like Indie Folktronica with elements of Rock and Soul sounds fun.
Q: Folktronica is a pretty sick term. Now, take us through your creative process. How do you get inspired?
We are currently working towards becoming a bigger band - we wanna add a guitarist and drummer to the line-up, so I imagine the creative process will change a fair bit. At the moment I produce all the music in my bedroom studio, and get Ingrid to come round and do her thing with my dodgy mic. We usually mess around a fair bit, but sometimes those ideas are the best!
Q: Finally - any major future plans? Gigs, EPs, anything exciting?
Not lots to report at the mo. We just released a song called ‘Just Enough’ on Spotify & Apple Music (listen HERE) but are currently working towards a new sound with a full band. We’re looking to spill a couple of demos over our Soundcloud in August and will be getting in the practice room shortly after. Keep your eyes peeled!
