If the original Saints of Doncaster sought to carve themselves a unique sub-genre, SAINTTS of Manchester have perfected it: of the dozens of times I’ve seen them perform, each has been more exhilarating than the last.

Their combo of ‘jangly’ surf-rock and noise-pop creates something far greater than the sum of its parts, with some tracks flowing seamlessly from gentle melody to all-out white-knuckle grunge. With this, they have weaponised the raw chaos they had initially envisioned as 'Saints' a few years back.

Vocalist Alex Rave’s untameable energy seems to resonate through the room. The walls of abrasive feedback from his guitar cohere effortlessly with Jack Byrne’s harmonious bass lines and Ben Hallet’s thundering percussion. Latest single Call Me Out contains some of the group’s most realised songwriting to date, permitting the track to truly flourish in a live setting. In the time I’ve been following the trio, it’s safe to say that the Saintts have gained much more than an extra ’t’.

Saintts are supporting WITCH FEVER & SLUMDOGS at the Peer Hat on June 8 - check out our preview HERE.
