It's a cliched slogan: "GIRLS invented punk rock, not England". Still, we all know it to be true, particularly in Manchester, one of the earliest centers for female liberation and Women's suffrage. Whilst we Mancunian women grow stronger, wiser and more vocal with each passing day, the need still remains for activism - and what could be more powerful than the written (or, in this case, spoken) word?
This event will see a host of gallant open mic-ers take to the stage, announcing their odes to the great punks of yesteryear: Siouxsie Sioux, Poly Styrene, Patti Smith, Kate Bush (a punk in her own right, ok?). Entry is free of charge, but a small donation is politely encouraged.
Open mic slots are still available, so if you fancy it, pop a message to stirredwomen@gmail.com. Get yourselves down, and you may even see half of the NOWT team up on stage!
