SLEAZY F BABY'S last record was 2016’s All Blahk Tracksuit, a 15-track melting-pot of an album that nodded to all his hip hop, grime and trap influences, and included three features from Manchester’s finest and long-time Sleazy associate Black Josh. Two years later and Sleazy is back with a new look, a new sound and a new crew: Dripset.

After months of teasing across Instagram and Twitter and successful single GELATO, March 20th saw the unveiling of a six track UK trap project that is packed with bangers from start to finish. Sleazy is joined on all six tracks by proteges K.DON and CULPS – who each bring something unique to the tape, and more than hold their own with the experienced MC.

But there’s more to Dripset than your average trap project: whilst the production doesn’t break much new ground, it does provide the perfect platform for Culps’ smooth auto-tune sing-a-long earworms. The most interesting moments, though, are when Sleazy and co. combine their love of trap with their natural flair for rapping.

Trap doesn’t have to be all style and no substance, and this Manchester crew are proving it. S T I C K might be the standout for that – combining a high-energy, ad-lib ridden chorus, aggressive production from Matic with well-enunciated, funny and memorable lines about their lives, talking about topics including lean abuse in an open and honest way.

Though this is just six tracks, Sleazy has promised a slew of more projects throughout 2018, including new Dripset tapes every two months, as well as a return to hip hop with All Blahk Tracksuit 2. Whatever he has up his sleeve, we’re looking forward to it.

Catch Sleazy and DRIPSET live @ SOUNDS FROM THE OTHER CITY, Salford on Sunday May 6th.
