"On 4th November 2015, artist Gustav Metzger made a ‘Worldwide Call to Remember Nature’. Towards the end of a life spent protesting against oppression, nuclear weapons and exploitative capitalism, he turned his concern to damaged Nature."

Since then, Artist PHIL BARTON has been working hard to preserve this message: in a collaboration with Salford arts venue Islington Mill, his continuous installation (titled simply, Out of Sight, Out of Mind) has inspired scores of onlookers to remember that, not only is our natural world being destroyed, but also ignored - by us, its symptoms and inhabitants.

Across this thought-provoking exhibit, we are encouraged, through use of simplistic messages, to cease this mindless and ignorant destruction - whether it be through limiting use of plastics, ceasing the erosion of hyper-development or approaching technology with caution. In a rather apt choice of setting, the folks at Islington Mill have selected their rustic (and somewhat lovingly dilapidated) courtyard space as an area to house the work.

The installation itself has been running, for quite some time, on an exclusive, book-only viewing basis. However, as it continues to run until June 6th, these next few months could well be your last chance to absorb the impassioned and wholesome messages on show.

To book a viewing or find out more, visit the Islington Mill website here, or pop an email to space@islingtonmill.com.
